About Zenòdot

Zenòdot is a documentary tool for discovering book translations. Search any book and find out whether it's been translated into your language — or any other.

It is not a bookstore. It is not a translation engine. It does not translate books. What it does is answer a question that no single platform answers well: has this book been translated?

Zenòdot cross-references more than 50 bibliographic sources —dozens of national libraries from every continent (Library of Congress, BnF, DNB, BNE, NDL Japan, and many others), commercial aggregators (ISBNdb, Google Books), Wikidata, the historical record of UNESCO's Index Translationum, and community contributions— to find published editions in different languages. It groups results by language, flags unverified matches honestly, and prioritizes independent bookshops for purchase links.

It is designed for readers in minoritized languages — people who have no reliable way to discover whether a book they want exists in their language. But it works for any language and any reader.

Through aggregated and anonymous searches, Zenòdot also detects translation gaps: books that readers want but that haven't been translated yet. This data, over time, could help publishers understand what readers actually need.
