About Zenòdot

Zenòdot is the largest actively maintained open catalogue of book translations in the world — an independent canonical database built by correlating more than 50 bibliographic sources.

It answers one question: does this book exist in your language? It neither sells books nor translates them.

Zenòdot correlates rather than aggregates: dozens of national libraries from every continent (Library of Congress, BnF, DNB, BNE, NDL Japan, and many others), commercial aggregators (ISBNdb, Google Books), Wikidata, the historical record of UNESCO's Index Translationum, and community contributions are cross-checked to resolve the identity of each work — verifying authors across writing systems, normalising language codes, and treating every script as a first-class citizen. Results are grouped by language, matches that cannot be verified are marked as such, and purchase links prioritize independent bookshops.

It is built for readers in minoritized languages — people who have no reliable way to discover whether a book they want exists in their language. But it works for any language and any reader.

“Documented by Zenòdot” never means “all that exists”: no source is complete, and the catalogue says so wherever it matters. Through aggregated and anonymous searches, Zenòdot also detects translation gaps — books that readers want but that haven't been translated yet. Over time, that signal could help publishers understand what readers actually need.
